Since the 4th of July sales, I'm building an AR pistol with a 10.5 barrel. It has the old fixed front sight post. I'm wondering what kind of light options are good for this kind of set up? So far, I have the old standard handguard and haven't swapped it out for anything. I've heard you can get a rail mount attached in front of the front sight post. But I'm opened to any options

On my simple setup I bought a Magpul Rail section and mounted it to the top of the handguard ($5) and then bought a VTAC Offset Light Mount ($25) and then used a spare Streamlight I had laying around.

So you could have a complete setup for $70 depending on what brand light you get

I like the streamlight protact, quite durable.

If we are posting random AR lights now whatever I guess, not quite an "old style handguard" recommendation. But then again do "old style handguards" really exist? Why would anyone buy an AR devoid of features such as a free float hand-guard?
