Wind was an issue on the PVC ones prior to some modifications, too. Thats why I drilled stake holes in the legs. I use 6" pole barn nails to stake the stands, fault lines, and shooting boxes when doing drills.

If I was going to leave the stands in place and not move them I would fill the legs with concrete or simply build heavy 2x4 target bases. These are meant to be portable.

I'm going to repurpose some old pallets into these tomorrow.

I like that they can be used for steel or paper targets.

I like those. We typically use these types of target bases at USPSA matches. Rarely do we have any issues unless the wind really picks up. When that happens we have stake holes in the four corners and we just stake them or throw some tires on the base.

Just a tip, if you go the route of PVC make it so that all your pvc pipe length are the same because eventually some one will shot it and it makes it easier to replace it from another stand or extra pieces you cut.

Here is a pic of what I did.

Agreed makes life easier later to have those pieces the same lengths. On top of that I also write on the pc in sharpy what the length is.

Do you just score the a zone lines? Or draw them in? I need an appliance store friend... just payed .80 a piece for new targets..

LOL :D .... I just use a pencil and trace it out lightly so I can’t see it at 3 yards. Also another good place to get cardboard is your recycle center.

Well, I learned that pallet wood is too inconsistent to build anything decent from.
$3 2x4s worked nicely though. Tomorrow is range day!!!!!
