Would like some suggestions on choices for an AR rifle optic. Here are the criteria ... please keep your suggestions within these confines:
    - $300"ish" or less (don't want cheap stuff, but can't break the bank on this purchase)
    - must be available in green projection (can be red/green switchable, but want the green as it's easier for me to see)
    - pic' mount

I've looked at the new Crimson Trace PRO CTS1000 items, I like them, but not available in green that I can discern.

Would appreciate some help narrowing my search.

With the green reticle that really narross your options. <$300 the only one i feel comfortable suggesting would the the vortex strike fire 2.

I did find a used trijicon mro green dot for $285 that slipped through my fingers by minutes. Unfortunately new ones can be had for about 450.

Do you have any eye trouble like astigmatism?

Do you want 1x or something magnified, say... 3x?

I have minor astigmatism; yes, but not overt.
    I like the 1x option.

I did find some decent reports/reviews on the Holosun brand; several of them at $300 or less in green dot.
Any reason to avoid these, or are they about as decent as the other options?

I had some initial troubles with a Holosight not turning on after going to sleep. Seems ok now.

I was going to say, if you had astigmatism then look at the Vortex Spitfire. I did just use it at a class and the base screws came loose. Better blue lock tight those.

I run a Vortex Spitfire AR on an AR pistol since my eyes don’t like red dots. Very happy with it on red and green. I also like that it always has a black reticle if batteries happen to die. No real need for backups.
