There seems to be a pretty limited selection of drop loop holsters for full-sized 1911s.

I think I would like one for range duty (read non-concealment situations). I've never really cared for high-ride on a full-sized pistol.

I've been looking into Diamond Leather from Alaska, Alaska Hunter hip holster.

Are there any suggestions out there for other manufacturers? Anybody here in Indiana making good quality leather holsters for 1911s?

Nothing fancy. No tooling. For use with a regular gun belt. Single leather retention strap with a snap.

After preforming a good googling I came up with a drop loop holster being a western gun belt style holster.

    Well, sort of.

It doesn't necessarily hang down like a holster from a 1950s western, but I suppose it could. It doesn't carry as high as most modern pancakes and other varieties designed for concealment.

The picture is from a company in Alaska and it is $120. I don't mind paying for good leather and while the price is a little high, I don't think the price is too out of line for a quality hand-made product. If I could find someone making them a little more local, that would just be great. I'm planning on buying two. One for me and one as a gift.
