Warne QD ring mounting question

I am switching several rifles to the qd rings to save space in the safe & reduce odds of bumping into each other.

I originally purchased a set of medium for a 50 objective lens but it fits in the low with about 1/4 inch of clearance.

My question, is it ok to use the low set as long as it clears or am I missing something?

What rifle?

The lower rings should be fine. You said 1/4" clearance at the objective lens, I assume.

I like to mount scopes as close to the bore as possible.

On an AR platform it is possible to get a scope to low. So low that your eye is difficult to align through the optic..

I've always gone as low as I can go with no contact of barrel, handguard, etc. Usually like to leave just enough room for lens covers to fit without issue.
You should plenty good to go with 1/4" of clearance

If the scope bell doesn't touch the gun and you can get your cheek low enough to see through it, you're good to go.

You just have to make sure that it is comfortable for you. Remember, the point of the optic, is to make the firearm as efficient and accurate as possible. And the point of using QD rings is so that you can remove the scopes to aid in storage, so if the optics are mounted higher because that is what is comfortable for you, it won't make storing them more difficult.
