Don't need bomb proof but don't want the cheapest.
    Don't want Chinese made.
Is this one made in USA?

Know the Rifleman rings are not.

Who is happy w this mount (or similar)?

This for a chuck/coyote rifle (scope will be a 1" tube 4-12X- nothing super long or heavy).

I got the mount and dropped a freedon vx 3-9x 40mm in it.

    Am content.

My Redfield Rev 3-9x 50mm looked to barely fit the fixed ring spacing.

So its going in the classifieds.

The 3-9x 40mm has proly a half inch space between front ring and bell and half inch between back ring and power selector.

    Three reasons:

    1. Only muzzle device I had around (protect threads)

    2. A 16" AR in winter is a loud SOB.
Figure a bit longer might make it more polite when yote hunting

    3. Due to no mandated orientation of the device, I can maybe adjust it a bit, see if it tunes like a Browning B.O.S.S.

This rifle was set up for yotes. Will be run sans bipod most of the time.
A little weight out front does make it more steady offhand BTW.
And why I went 3-9X and not 4-12X.

Guess that could be a fourth reason ;)

BTW, with scope removed and DD irons on it, the setup does hold nice.
Removal of the 5.5 flash does change the feel.

Personally I don't mind a kinda sorta STG58 look. LOL

    Just the 5.5" Xm177 lookalike.

Bushmaster used to sell em without rear ring.
Havent seen any avail for some time.
    This one was from Delton.

Has vents all the way around. Isnt sealed off in an area to elim dust up when prone.

Thanks! Does it help much over a regular muzzle device? May need to see if I can find one or something similar if it does. I'd think it would act a lot like a blast can.

Just picked up a bushnell 1-4 on sale. Looking at scope mounts.

Can anyone explain to me why exactly these mounts are so expensive?
    the scope was 100 bucks.
why is a 170 dollar mount better than a 30 dollar mount?
just from material and machining it doesnt look that complicated, but im sure their is a reason. It just isnt apparent to me

Leupold non QD mount is under 100.
Has 5 screws to secure clamp, has 3 recoil lugs.
Dropped scope in, torqued to spec, removed and no ring marks on scope.

    Not bad IMHO.

Decent screws and machine tolerance proly adds something. Am happy w my purchase.

Part of it is the machining, but the biggest reason is is that scoped ARs are the hotness now. If you look around, you can find super high rings for a pic rail for dirt cheap compared to a one piece mount. They'll work, but may require some compromises as far as scope type and location.

Folks can also go w a riser and use reg rings on an AR.

Depending on length, one could do a bit of cantilever..

    Looks crappy though
But then again, ARs aint pretty
