I was in a local pawn shop and saw a Sig P228R, so I pondered a bit then put it on hold until payday. It only had one magazine and that was okay with me. So, onto the question, what kind of magazine does it take? I have heard about magazines that work, but I need to know this so I can buy some that are a proper fit. Any help would be appreciated.

The P228R aren't "real" per say German 228's. They were assembled in the US. Sauer found some older German folded stamped steel slides and then Sig Sauer USA mated German-made frames to them. So basically a 228 slide on a 229R frame. They aren't triple proofed like the original W.German/German guns. You can get 13rd, 15rd, 18rd mags for it. I would suggest Greg Cote as well for your mags. Also, 226 mags are interchangeable. I own one myself along with two W.German 228's. Nice score.
