Does anybody have any experience with shooting 100 grain 9mm ammo? I have an M&P shield and was wondering how it would perform, or if I should refrain from putting it through my gun. I have 100 rounds that I inherited, looks to be 20-30 years old. Never really hear of anybody shooting it, so I was curious.

Are you sure it's 9mm Luger ammo and not 9mm Kurtz??? I have seen some older .380 ammo labeled 9mm Kurtz

Just make sure it's 9x19 and not 9x17 .380 ammo.

There WERE some factory loads for 9mm in 100 or even 95 grain. Shouldn't hurt anything, but don't expect stellar performance. I regularly handload 90-100 grain 9mm loads as they are VERY flat shooting, low recoil and FAST!

I vaguely remember a 1200-1300 fps Remington load using the 95 gr JHP from their .380 series of component bullets, back when fast and light was the thing dujour... Oh, and there was a flood in the early Aughties (00-05) of the Federal 95gr soft point 9mm loads that were the big thing in Britain and Europe for Mp5s.

ETA: I take that back: The LAPD and Illinois State Police, for a VERY short amount of time, used 95 gr Federal SPs as their politics didn't want "dangerous hollow points" to be used but wanted expansion. The Europeans used Hirtenberger soft points in pistols/SMGs, Brits used Radway Green SPs in their Hi-Powers and MP5s. Yay history! :D

I have some factory 90 gr 9x19 and I load 95gr 9x19 alot. it shoots and works great. low recoil and very accurate. I run them in pretty much everything from 1911's, XDM and CZ 75
It's not all I shoot but it is a good Friday night steel round

    .
No issue with it I can see, but some guns, particularly older 9mm, can have issues with light bullets.

I have not seen factory 100gr 9mm but I have loaded many 100gr 9mm myself. As stated above they shoot very flat and in my pistols my loads are very accurate.
