I have an 8mm-06ackley and data is scarce and what is out there is old. Once the 8x57 brass became available there wasn't any reason to rechamber a Mauser anymore. Any way I use RP stamped 30-06 brass then fire form it I use 30-06ai dies with the neck bored out to 8mm. My fire formed resized brass is 2.473 long and holds 71 grains of water. I would love some starting and finishing point ideas on 125gr 150 and 170gr bullets. Maybe with a better selection of powders than currently available data( no new 8-06 for probly 20yrs) if any one would be willing to trade this favor for one I might be able to do for them I'd much appreciate it

I have a bunch of data for 8mm/06 but its 40+ years old. It certainly can be a good starting point. But with the Ackley you have the capability of 5% + - improvement.

Thanks for the hornady info. I'm hoping for a more complete list of suitable powders I don't have space or funds for lots of selection. I like to try and find multiple uses for a powder.

PM me a email address and I will send you data from 3 books, and if that's not enough I can most likely dig up more. The website will not let me upload and more pics. Squirrel.

I don't know whether there is any agreed upon max pressure spec for 8mm-06AI, though 8-06 goes to 50k PSI.

QL believes that with a 8-06 case holding 71 grains of water, 65 grains of Reloader 17 will reach 49.5k under a 125 Hornady 3230. That is 98.9% full so it is in the sweet spot for fill as well. In my experience AI cases are slightly more efficient, so I'd expect it to make at least 50k on a pressuretrace.

With the same powder, QL thinks 61 grains and a 150 Hornady 3230 would hit 50k.

Dropping to 60.5 grains puts a 170 grain Hornady 3235 to 50k. That'd be down to 92.6% full. Not optimal but within the realm of reasonable.

Were I to lose a bet and neck up an 06 case, I'd be happy to find that one of the best powders on the planet was a good fit. If there are others you'd like to know, name them and I can report QL's findings. RL15 is likely a fit as well.

My books tell me its just under 60k with the big heavy bullets.
I have bunch's of data I just need a email address to sent it to.

I would probably start with a heavy bullet with imr 4350 behind it.

the advice on a heavy weight and 4350 is good 60.4gr of 4350 under a 200 hot for gives an honest 2700fs that's a lot of thump !
