Recently purchased a new Remington 1911 in 9mm. Currently shooting 115gr round nose plated from Freedom Munitions. I've had good luck with that ammo in my other pistols, but in the 1911 I'm encountering a large number of FTEs. Looking for suggestions for ammo that will work better in that gun. Please reply with suggestions for brand and/or weight. Recipes are also welcome; I rarely load my own 9mm since it's so cheap, but can if necessary. Thanks.

Can of worms. I have chased these problems myself with a Kimber.

If it is a FTE it could be under powered ammo, improperly tensioned extractor or too heavy a main spring.

FTF (feeding issue). Crappy magazines, ammunition to short or not enough recoil spring.

Try other ammo but I would also start by checking the extractor, then replace the main spring and recoil spring. 19 lb hammer spring and a 10-12 lb recoil spring.
