I am going to start reloading 458 socom.
My rifle has a mid length, 16" barrel.
I am using the Hornady 300 gr hollow points which I assume are similar to Remington 300 gr hollow points.
But I can't seem to find any H110/300 gr reloading data online.
My google-fu is strong enough to determine that a typical load is 32.5 gr of H110 and 35 gr is pretty much max.
But, I want a table with velocities and stuff.
Has anyone come across any information that they would like to share?

Sometime in the future, I am gong to work up some hotter loads with Reloader7 or 10x but initially I think I will stick with the H110

    THANKS!

A bit of a bump but has anyone else put together some H110 loads for the 458 and is willing to share some data and experience? I will be loading some 300 and 325gr loads and am interested to see what velocities others ore getting with which charge loads. \

    Thank you,

    Thank you,

I worked up loads for the barnes 300 ttsx and w296, as well as the nosler 300 grain offering, but I don't think that either of them can be used for your projectile. I got sortof inconsistent results out of the nosler and the ttsx all copper bullets behave a little differently because they take up more of the cartridge space than a more dense lead core bullet would.

If I remember right, I was able to push the ttsx to about 1675 FPS without pressure signs, but that was well short of maximum charge weight. I have a Tromix 16" upper. I don't know how much 458 you have loaded but for most of the data out there, the minimum with a 300 grain bullet, not the ttsx mind you, is usually about 28.0 or 28.5 grains for H110/W296 and the maximum is usually 30.0 grains, eg, the lyman AR manual. When I worked the above 2 loads up, I found that it was necessary to work up in about .2 grain increments. This is the trickiest and most frustrating round by far that I have ever loaded, and the most expensive.

Anyhow, good luck and Check out the 458 socom forums, for more detailed info. They have a lot on there.

    I worked up a few loads of 325gr FTX over H110 making 5 rounds each, of 27gr, 27.5, and 28gr. I got velocities of 1370, 1410, and 1450 respectively.

The Lyman AR manual shows a 28gr max for 1530fps.

I'd like to see 1500fps and it seems most are successful going with a charge closer to 30gr if not 31.

1600fps would be great but I dont want to invite pressure issues.

    Are you dedicated to H110?

My middy's favorite candy is 300gr Hornady HPs over Accurate 1680.

If memory serves, 41.5gr worth. Don't quote me on that. It's been awhile since I loaded any, and it was maxed out.

Don't have a chrono, but the guy who gave me the recipe claims they are about 1750FPS.

I just know they make deer really dead.:yesway:

I also load H110 for M1 Carbine and prefer to keep inventory simple.

I just found loads from Teppo Jutsu showing 33gr of H110 pushing 325gr FTX to 1770fps. I may try some at 32gr.

My 325 FTX load runs 32.5 gr. of H110 with CCI magnum primers and no issues. It's actually very accurate and effective on deer :):.

My upper is a RRA mid length. Some say the mid length uppers don't run on H110, but mine eats anything I put through it including gas checked lead.

I use 33.5gns of H-110 under the 325 Flextips. Works really well at around 1800fps in 16" barrels. But using this load for over 5 years...rock solid and consistent...suppressed its amazing.

Last 458 I loaded was the 300 gr. Sierra. Think I didn't change anything from the 325 FTX. My bolt action Savage loves the 300 gr. Remington bulk JHPs. Same load as my AR, but I could play with different powders and charges to really get them smoking out of the bolt gun.

New here, found this old thread, and I'm looking for similar data. I want to load.458 350 gr jacketed SP flat nose, using H110, but am having trouble finding data for charge grains and OAL. Can anyone here help? Thank you.

    Disregard, loaded with 4198

As described above, I saw 1770fps.

Now to establish a load for the 300gr Sierra Pro Hunter HP.

This got shelved for a while but:

300gr Sierra pro hunter flat nose HP on 34gr of H110 got me 1790fps.

I am going to plink with the rest of the pro hunter bullets and stick with the 325gr FTX . The BC will allow much flatter trajectory and slightly farther range.

    Thanks
