44Gr H4895 over a 405 Cast has worked well for me. Sub 1inch at 100 out of my Sharps.CFEA1FC9-9305-4D93-8363-E971BF0D241A.jpeg

I'm about to start a batch of .357.

I have always used magnum primers since that is what was listed in my Lyman manual. 14.3gn 2400 for a 158gn projectile.

A guy I work with has questioned my use of magnum primers for 2400. Recently I got a deal on a couple thousand Winchester standard pistol primers at a gun show.

I'm not certain if I'll have to bump up the powder charge a couple of tenths or not. In general this is just plinking ammo.

    Thanks for looking that up!

That is some useful information. Sometimes it seems like I get some unburned powder at 14.3gn using a magnum primer. It definitely happens a lot at 13.8gn. I just assumed that's why they were using a magnum primer.

I'm still using a Lyman 48th edition. Updating my info probably wouldn't hurt.

No prob. And just an FYI, if you go to their home page, and select products, and select a powder, you can see all of their loads broken out for that particular powder. It makes finding a load a bit easier.

As an example, here's all of their different 357mag loads for 2400..https://www.alliantpowder.com/reload...9&cartridge=28.

Did 9mm and 5.56 over weekend.

Started .38 SPLs (mildish for the kids for holidays, 158 RN, 3.3 Bullseye for good dirty fun) last night. Did not realize how low I was on .38s! 4 big .50 cans and 1 .30 can, all with like 17 rounds in them.

    Got to put in overdrive.

Just an FYI that the website omits many of the loads in the catalog. For example, they are pushing RL16 for 6.5cm so hard you’d think no other Alliant powder would work.
