Getting ready to work up some loads using the steel core 62 grain pills over cfe 223. What recipes have you used for this combination?:ar15:

The biggest advantage to using CFE in 223/5.56 loads is essentially it's made to fill the case entirely leaving just enough room to set the bullet without going over pressure. I seat mine to 2.250 OAL for optimum magazine feeding over 26.5 grains of CFE you won't get any more in the case without compressing it.

Here's what that load looks like for performance, this is a pressure chart for 5.56:

    Code:
    Cartridge : 5.56 mm NATO - 5.56 x 45 mmBullet : .224, 62, PrviPartizan FMJ BT B-419
    Useable Case Capaci: 25.342 grain H2O = 1.645 cm³
    Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 2.250 inch = 57.15 mm
    Barrel Length : 16.0 inch = 406.4 mm
    Powder : Hodgdon CFE223

Predicted data by increasing and decreasing the given charge,
incremented in steps of 2.0% of nominal charge.
CAUTION: Figures exceed maximum and minimum recommended loads !

    I load a lot of CFE223 and 26.5 is great for 55gr.
for 62gr, I'd start at 24.0 and work up from there.
26.0-26.5 is probably max for 62gr. that bullet is quite a bit longer than 55gr FMJ.
I would imagine 25.5-26.0 is going to be the sweet spot, but that just theoretical...;)
