M855 / SS109 green tip is perfectly fine in Indiana. I should have sold all of mine when they were going for >$1 per round during the ATF ban scare. They've fallen back to ~35 cents/rnd now.

    They are legal.
Most of the above comments are references to inside jokes.

It's worth noting that they are not legal (or questionable at best) through a pistol, which would include AR pistols. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's how it works.

From a rifle, they are fine.
Check any pertinent state hunting regs if using them elsewhere (generally NOT allowed for game except for varmints)

it is a lousy round for accuracy. I don't waste my time loading them. But they are totally legal. The 75 BTHP is very effective and accurate. That bullet is worth loading....

Agree. They don't always fly very well. Probably 2-3 MOA from my 20" Colt. 100-400 they did about the same from my 14.5" Colt but >400 yards was not good. My 10.3" DD MK18 hates them at any distance. All those barrels were 1:7 twist.

What twist and barrel length are you finding the 75 grain to be good in?

All of them. 1X7 1X8 1X9. It is a heavier 69. I use the same load data as a 69.

I don't waste a lot of time "working" up a load. I use exactly the same load in all my AR's. And I own more than one..

Barrel length is not relevant to accuracy.

Also keep in mind that some (all?) outdoor ranges ban them for shooting steel targets.

I played with a few boxes of green tips back in the day but saw no reason to continue buying a less accurate round, at a higher cost, that damages steel targets.

It is relevant when the bullet is marginally stabilized and more velocity means more RPM's.
    Hence my asking.

Thank you for the info on the 75 grain. Is that the Hornady?
Is that from your experience with that bullet in barrels with those twists?

I didn't realize there was a restriction on ammo there.
