I have recently inherited a nearly full can of 30-06 blank ammunition. As you can see in the pics, it's marked M89, is full length with a crimp, and I believe it was made in Israel by IMI. I can't seem to find anything searching on the internet for this stuff except a couple of people trying to sell it.

Do any of you have any idea what the intended use is and for which rifle?

Blanks are made for training to make NOISE.

The soldier will put a blank firing adapter on thier rifle that will allow the action to cycle with blanks. They then can train and not need to worry about live ammo flying about.

They are also used for funeral salutes.

may have been intended for the Garand.

Actually, I was trying to determine if these were used to fire rifle grenades or if they were just noise-makers. The pressure difference is considerable in the two uses and I don't want to damage my rifle.

To Hkindiana: sorry, I don't have enough posts to be able to respond to PM's. I may be interested, however.
