I am getting into 300 blackout lately and I am looking for some load advice for 150 grain supersonic. Anyone have a favorite / pet load for 150 grain? I have Lil gun and H110 but would be willing to try out other powders.

I know there are a few guys on here who shoot some 150's that'll be along. I will preface with the fact I haven't played a bunch with them and I'm sure there can better loads than where I ended up. However, I loaded probably 100 150grain hornady projectiles for 300blk with lil gun not too long ago because I had an extra box of 150's laying around. Sadly I don't remember the amount of powder or OAL because it didn't shoot nearly as well as 125's and so I didn't bother keeping it. I am not saying it shot awful or discouraging you from doing it, the 150's just didn't compare well to what one can get out of the 125's in my opinion. However, you can successfully make a load with the lil gun you've already got I know for sure and you will probably be happy with it (sorry I can't provide my load specs though). What projectiles are you planning on using?

They are Hornady 150 grain FMJBT. I have a bunch of them so was wanting to give them a try. I've noticed that some of the bullets made specifically for 300 Blackout can be pricey. Shooting from a 16 inch barrel non-suppressed of course.

I'll see if I have any left. I'd be willing to measure them and pull a bullet to see what the powder charge was. I was shooting 10" suppressed so your results may be better and different anyhow. I didn't think the ones I loaded chrono'd too bad. I'll look tonight when I get home and if I have any left I'll let you know.

Mine likes IMR 4227 and Sierra 150 gr. Game King. Can't recall how many grains of powder, I'm not at home. I'll look when I get there.

Hornady tenth edition manual says maximum15.9 grains of H110 gives 1800 fps using Hornady cases and Win SR primers at an oal of 2.090" in a S&W AR 16". I'd recommend starting at about 15.0 grains of H110 and working up. I've loaded them with H110 at an overall length of 2.065" loading up to 16.5 grains. At 16.0 grains it will get about 1935 fps in a 16" AR. At 16.5 it will get close to 1950 fps. I shoot the same 16.5 grains charge of H110 with M80 147 FMJ's and get slightly under 2000 fps. No pressure issues up to 16.5 grains with Horn. 150 fmj's or M80 147 fmj's. I load using LC or RP brass with RP 7 1/2 primers. My overall length with 147 FMJ's is 2.130" to 2.140". They have a more sharply pointed tip than the blunt tipped Horn. 150 FMJ. Do start low and work up. Also Hornady 10th says maximum with Lil-Gun is 17 grains for 1900 fps. Some 300 BLK loaders say H110 does well for up to 150 gr. bullets and Lil-Gun does better for heavier bullets than does H110.

I use 16.5 grains. My manual is buried under a pile of stuff so I can't get the data about it right now.

16.5 sounds good. Look here too... http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/rifle 14.6-17.2gr.

We usually run 125g SMK or Hornady OTFB over 18.5g Lil-Gun. Haven't chronographed in a while. They are very accurate from both 10" and 16" bbls. I've tried a little hotter up to 20/20.5 gr compressed but accuracy suffered. Our goal is always accuracy over speed.

Been running some 220g subs lately over 9-10gr of Lil-Gun. They are fun to shoot once in a while. Be very careful though... Tried some 220's subs in a 16" and not a good idea- stuck about 2" from muzzle. :): It was a perfectly rifled 220. Had to knock it out with a brass rod. YMMV.

I had a loose box of 150grn game kings on the shelf. Nestled them on top of 4227 and sent them down range from a 16" tube super sonicly.

Shot soft, hit steel hard as hell, nice milk jug exploding, accuracy was great. Only dropped about an inch or two out to 150. Since it was a loose box I didn't keep any notes.

If I was going to shoot something it will be with 125grn projos.

Anybody needs a rife or complete upper let me know. Mine is a safe queen. 30 cal bullets arnt in my budget.

I had no luck on finding any but it looks like you are getting good info here now so that's good! I will say if you are looking for a starting point my 125 loaded ended up working best right at what sierra recommended and I found out I was just wasting time playing with it in different directions. That may be worth noting to you but I thought I'd share. My personal rifle also seemed to like the sierra projectiles more than the Hornady but yours may be much different.

Thanks for the good information. I am gonna give the 150 grain a try but also order some 125's to play with later on. Now I need to find some IMR 4227 to try along with the H110 and Lil gun. :yesway:

Out of my 8" barrel I'm averaging 1580fps with 16.0g of 4227 for a hornady 150g soft point flat base.
I also make subs with this combination, 1050fps average using 10.6g of 4227

I've got an adjustable gas block, not sure that it helps or not. I assume it does, but have no way to judge. It seems that it is open most of the way. A non-adjustable would be full open, right?
I've had zero issues with them cycling

My Sierra book shows at 16.5 grains of 4227 and a COL of 2.105" you'll get 1850 fps and 1178 ft/lbs. I e-mailed Sierra, they said that would be a good deer round. This was 5 rounds at 50 yards.
