That is my go to powder for long range AR shooting. I mainly load 77g SMKs on top of 22.9g of 8208 XBR. It's a very accurate combination for me.

It is what I load for my .308. It has done very well for me in that caliber. I'm experimenting with it in .243 and .223. Preliminary results are promising. I initially went with it because of a difficulty finding RE-15 during the panic years.

    Do you already have it?

If not, and you already HAVE RE15, just load RE15.

Either way, the 69 MatchKing with about 24.5 RE-15 is one mean SOB.

I love the 8208. It is very temperature tolerant. 55 grain Amax over 25 grains of 8208, is an excellent 200 yd load. I never played around with heavier bullets much.

XBR is a go-to powder for 223/223AI cases with heavy bullets, or 308s with 168gr and lighter bullets. Generally known as *the* 308/155gr powder.

    23.5gr XBR under a 77gr bullet makes a great Mk262 clone.

avboiler, how fast can you get XBR to go in that clone round? Will it better RE15 and stay under pressure?

I cloned it once for a guy, but did it with RE15. It was hot. Still safe at 120 degrees, but certainly wiping brass and flattening primers. Brand new LC09 though.

    Never used RL15.

    2740fps from a 18” 1:8 rifle gas BHW barrel with 23.5gr XBR under a 77gr Nosler.

BHA Mk262 white box was 2760 in the rifle, which 23.8gr XBR gave me but 23.5gr was more accurate. I ran up to 24.0gr without issue but no need to run hot overly loads in a gas gun IMO.
