Anyone loading 125g LRN 9mm ? My books say 1.250 OAL, Looks huge to me and they fail the plunk test. Looking on line at some reloading sites, I'm seeing a lot of people saying 1.030. I tried a couple of dummy rounds at this OAL and they work great with the plunk test. I"m loading titegroup middle of the load at 4.8g All info came from the 2008 Hodgdon annual manual.
In another manual they list 124 TMJ at 4.0 - 4.4 g should I knock my load back a little?
    Thanks

I load xtreme 124gr rn copper plated at 1.08- 1.1 using 4.2gr of titegroup with pretty good results out of my G19 and Witnesses. Xtreme recommends using load data for a lead bullet. Not sure if this helps you or not. Im fairly new to reloading myself

I am running about 3.8 at 1.136. I assume with your info of 4.8 the projectile would need to be out further so as to not increase the pressure.... The experts will be along shortly I'm sure. In any event, why use more powder than you have to?

Powder wise i hardly ever load over middle of the road. Rounds will be used in 3 different pistols.
I've loaded enough for 3 magazines going to try them before i go any further

Not sure how much that extra gram of lead matters, but the load data I have shows a max of 4.1gr for 124s.

That 4.8 load seems a bit high to me.

I didn't think there was much of a load window for TiteGroup in that weight range. I went with a slower powder.

I'm no expert, but I'd humbly suggest that you get a chrono if you are going to push the high side of the loads. Plated bullets like that have an upper limit. I think its in the neighborhood of 1200fps.

If the pic will post, its for a lead conical nose but still 125g lead
    Min 4.5 = 1114 fps and max 5.1= 1199
And of course i cant get it to post

Yah, I load 4.0 gr Titegroup on 124gr Xtreme Bullets. I can't recall the overall length, but 1.12 to 1.13 sounds right. They pass the 'plunk' test.(assuming that's the gauge you mean)

Back that load down to about 3.8grs and then work up if needed. 1.15 OAL would be a good starting length. Depending on the bullet you may be a little shorter than that.
