I was reading https://www.indianagunowners.com/fo...-way-choosing-powder.html?412193=#post6501012 I'm curious as to what your favorite powders are and why. I'm a cheap bastard, so I want something that works across everything that I shoot. I've been reloading handgun more than 5 years and have just started into rifle loads. Immediately I noticed that the extruded or stick powder (Reloader15) meters much more consistently than the flake powders (Titegroup, clays, IMR700x...) I use for handgun.

Clays I have found works great for powder puff loads/reduced recoil loads, although a bit dirty.
Titegroup is good for stretching the $$.
Longshot is great for high power loads, and seems cleaner than the others.

I've used a few others without much fanfare.

    What are your favs?

Title Group for .38 Special target loads. Unique for heavier hand gun loads. Bullseye for .45 acp with 230 grn hardcast or plated Bullets. H4895 for my military rifles. CFE .223 for AR-15 .223 plinking loads. I could go on and on; however, I’ll let someone else pick up from here.

For most handgun stuff I use 231/hp38.
Unique for mid level 44 mag
H335 for 223 plinking ammo. 69s get varget.
308 is a either varget or 4895 depending on what I'm loading.

My 9mm and 45ACP loads are TiteGroup. Seems to be a favorite. I feel that TiteGroup is a bit dirty and makes too much pressure compared to the velocity I get out of my magnum revolver loads so I’m looking for something new. However, it is a good one-size-fits-all.

I use WIN748 for plinking in my 223s and RL15 in accuracy loads in 223 and 308.

I really like TiteGroup for my 45acp loads, 5.0gr powder, 200gr Projectile with a Federal Primer seems to get the job done pretty well . Uses less powder overall as well so it's nice for my competition loads

I only load 380, 9mm, and 44 mag (for my lever gun) and use CFE Pistol for all. Very clean burning and meters great.

    Longshot, easily.

I can't think of a handgun that it can't be used in, and not achieve the highest velocities for.

For reduced loads I like VV320, super clean, super accurate, easy to meter.
