started reloading my .223 with CFE223 powder. I am using CCI550 Small Rifle Primer and 55gr FMJ. c
Reloading with Dillon 550 if i try to load over 20 / 21 grains of powder it overflows the case. the books call for 24.7 to 26.7 grains CFE223.
I dont want to blow up my AR or myself. had no issues with my old powder WIN748 this press would throw 25gr of that with no issue. I know CFE223 is larger, but why do the manuals show 24+ grains per cartridge when it wont even allow 22 grains without overflow. have 4 lbs of this powder really want to be able to utilize it.

I load 26 gn cfe 223 under a 55gn with no problem. Is your scale calibrated? I usually do that before any load work up. Also could have tumbling media stuck in cases. That's happened to me several times.

My first thought is the same. I've loaded 24+ grains of CFE in a .223 case.

Check your scale before you shoot any of your current batch of reloads.

Was the powder from a known source, and in it's original container?
Any possibility it could be the wrong powder?

I only ask because 4-5grs difference is a HUGE discrepancy.
I would check EVERYTHING about those rounds before chambering them.
