    Hi
I am forming some more 7.65x53 as I am too cheap to buy the brass.
I am wondering if I might be missing a case to form from.
    I have used,
308, almost no neck after forming.
7 and 8 x57 mauser works great but out of it,
30-06 is what I will be using if nothing else ( thats alot of trimming)

Those are pretty much your three options. Buy 7.65 Arg/Belg brass which is relatively expensive or take your chances and form 30-06 or 8x57 Mauser brass into 7.65. I am not aware of any other way. Yes, the 30-06 requires a lot of trimming.

Using most brands of 30-06 brass will make the case necks too thick and without any chamber neck clearance.

After screwing up 100 Remington 30-06 cases I switched to 7mm Mauser cases. The closer to actual case length of the 7.65 Belgian case with the least trimming the better off you will be.

If you do use 30-06 cases you will need to turn the necks to a uniform thickness. If you do not turn the necks you can have pressure spikes because the case neck can not expand.

I probably should have mentioned an inside neck reamer is usually necessary. My apologies. (Hat tip to Bigedp51 for covering it.)

My son forms 7.65 cases out of 06 cases, we have never had to turn necks when using old US Mil brass. He does a longer than normal anneal, size in the full length 7.65 die and then to trim case lenght he uses a trim die and a Jewelers saw to cut the brass.
Then a mild fireform load with a cast bullet and then resize with expander in place and do a final trim.

    Thanks guys,
I have not used an inside neck reamer before and not had any pressure problems but I will do some more checking.
It might be that I just do not load them very hot.
