I created a cleaning and lubrication guide for my Dillon XL650, based loosely on the following two videos. I recommend watching the videos first, and then using the guide as a... well... er... GUIDE! It helps me to remember each step in the process and keeps me on track. I printed these sheets and have them in plastic protective sleeves in a binder in my reloading room.

If anyone wants the original PDF file, PM with your email address.

    Here are the 2 videos:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXc2t6a0v5A

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zdWiWsFpMs

And here is a copy-and-paste of the guide. I am having to copy and paste, and then reformat each part, so this might take me a few posts and a day or so to complete. It would be best if folks would refrain from replying until I am done. I will add a comment at the end when I have finished with the copying and pasting.

    Thanks!

I know churchmouse has been asked to pin this post already and I would like to place a second request for that to be done. If the mods can see the benefit in it I hope they will consider it. Excellent info for anyone running the 650, and I imagine much of it would transfer over to the 550 and 1050

The XL650 has really been a great instrument for me, I love it! I started with a Lee Classic Turret press, which I still have, but once I tried the XL650, I knew I had found heaven!!! Go for it, you won't be sorry!

I learned of some places to lube that I missed. However, why the grease on the bottom of the station 1 locator?

That is Dillon's recommendation, I think it helps to hold it in place, but not too rigidly. In fact, Dillon recommends to be "generous" with the grease under the locator.

That makes sense. I've never done that so it may explain the occasional case "tripping" at station 1. Thanks for answer and nice write up.
