    What gun, bullet and primer?

    in general..
I shoot a 6.5 creedmoor Ruger Precision Rifle. Hornady ELD-M 147gr stay stable after hitting subsonic at 1550 yards, so I use them.

    Federal 210m
    Hornady 147gr ELDm
    41.3gr H4350
    2670 fps

I has nodes at 41.3 and 43.1 (2860 fps) but had better SD on the lower node. In general, I’ve found after charge weight, mandrel die and annealing every firing made the biggest improvements.

its shot as tight as 1/4 MOA with smaller groups, but generally shoots 1/2 MOA all day. Achieved 1 MOA at 1000 yards during competition with wind and hit the mile 14” steel.

I don't shoot long distance but I do follow some of it through media articles.

I'd be interested in seeing how much better you can make your handloads vs factory 6.5, compared to factory .308 vs. handloaded 308. From what I've been hearing, reading and watching, the Hornady ELD-M is tough to beat in all but the most precise of matches.

This is of course from an accurate standpoint and nothing else. It's still probably less expensive and more fun to load your own.

Have you done the 6.5 guys load development method? I used tried this with my 22-250 and I got favorable results.

this is not the 6.5 guys method, a guy named Scott Satterlee made it, 6.5 guys use it, as do I. Awesome system with minimal shots to find great nodes. The “why” behind the “what” concerning load development.

140gr bullet and 41.5gr H4350 @ 2.81” COAL is the 6.5 Creedmoor easy button...mild load that shoots decent to good in most rifles.

I prefer OCW and generally find a higher node in the 42.3-42.7gr ballpark.

Digging up an old thread but I just run some loads downrange today using the Hornady 140 ELD-M. I found great results using avboiler11 recommendation with only a slight tweak for my rifle. Out of 5 different ladder loads I ended up at 41.4gr H4350 with a OAL of 2.860 which is .020 off the lands. I still may experiment with this load with small increment changes of OAL.

Labradar reported 8 SD and 20 ES. Group was 0.502 moa.

You just can't go wrong with H4350. H4350 for 6.5 CM is just like 4064 for the M1 Garand as they are the go to powders. I use 140gr Hybrid Target Berger's under 41.2gr H4350 using Federal GM210M primers. Best brass is Atlas, Lapua, Hornady, and Starline IMO.

Yesterday I tested different seating depths and ended up with 0.015 off the lands. Here's the result of that load...
