I'm retired and often shoot every week. For this year, I have loaded about 2600 rounds of 9mm and 550 rounds of 45 acp. I have about 900 9mm and 125 45 acp rounds ready to go. I can easily knock a 100 rounds and go to the range.

Just wondering how many rounds of hand loaded ammunition do you keep on hand?

Dunno, I just keep loading 45acp. Whatever will fit in 6- 50cal cans of hardball and 5 cans of hollow points, that's what is loaded now. Oh, and still loading.

I hand load for a lot of old calibers, so there's plenty of jars and boxes with stuff in them.

I don't have a count, but do know I need more of most calibers I have. I started reloading pistol rounds back when we had the "ammo scare". I decided I didn't want to be stuck without ammo so I started loading. If or when the next ammo scare occurs, I want to have enough to still be able to enjoy shooting.

I sold a .243 caliber rifle last year. Months later, I got to adding up all I had in brass, bullets, cast bullets, molds, dies, loaded ammo, factory ammo, etc. Ended up with me buying a .243 barrel for the Encore, 'cause I'd never recover anything close to the investment I had in .243 ammo.

At the end of the season I load 2,500 45 acp and 3,000 of 9 mm for the next season if I start running low I just do a few hundred to get me by.

Think I've got a couple hundred of 223 for the T3, maybe 50 of 6.5SE, and another 100 or so of 6.5x55 for the Swedes. Oh, and about 150 of moderate 7.62x54 for the Finns.
As cheap as 5.56 and 9mm are I don't really see much use in reloading those at the present.

Short answer is not enough! Serious though, I try to keep 2000 each of 9mm, .38 .357, 41Mag, 44 Special, 44Mag. .45ACP. and .45Colt on hand. For rifle I tend to keep 1000 each of .223, .243, 30-30, .45-70. Back in the day when I got promotional ammo to shoot, I was able to stock up on lots of brass and still have a lot of once fired stuff. When I shot the circuit through the heavy years I ran 6 presses to try to keep up with the demand when my arrangement with Alton and Minneapolis dried up. Now with training, competition and practice I am down to shooting a little over 15K a year and I use rainy/windy days to stuff brass. My late friend Denny Reichard and I used to load 5 gallon buckets (the old metal kind) of 44Mag. but I am too old to lug those around anymore so I keep ammo cans that are handier. I poly bag (6mil) most everything as trying to load ammo boxes is too time consuming for handiness.Hope this helps. Thank you for posting and good shooting.

The problem is that handloading is itself a hobby and it is addictive. Once you get going it's hard to stop.
I try to keep at least 1000 rounds or more of each on hand. The problem with people who are not involved with firearms or handloading is that they think that more than a handful for one gun is to much, they don't see it as a hobby.

probably have 1000 45acp loaded for USPSA open.
I do most of my reloading over the winter when I really don't want to be outside.
i'm stockpiling 22LR for steel challenge/rimfire challenge next year.

    I shoot a lot more 22LR than 45's

    Depends.
I only reload when I can "concentrate & not be distracted". which is my first rule of reloading.
Depends on if I am target shooting or preparing to hunt.
hunting loads are always on-hand since I have reloaded since 1986.
target loads are needed more frequently for my handguns.
and I will buy a retail box of 9mm once in awhile because it's cheap & available.
