I use whatever is on my shelf for most pistol loads, right group, tightwad, bullseye, unique. Most pistol powders you find on the shelves are very versatile. Most people can’t outshoot the differences.
+1 for TiteGroup. Some people don't like it because there isn't much range from min to max and it is a low capacity powder. My loads are mid range and I am very careful not to double charge.
And its been mentioned as a choice, but nobody mentioned that HP38 and W231 are the exact same powder. Same stuff, just different names/brands/containers.
The guys I shoot with mostly use Titegroup for 9, 40 and 45. I've used quite a bit of HP38/Win231, but found that 147gn 9mm loads are about 100fps slower and won't cycle most of my guns w/o weaker recoil springs. It works awesome for 115 and 125gn bullets though.
Lots of other good suggestions above also. Given today's climate, don't be too picky and get a lb of most any mentioned pistol powder you can find!
