Last night I started tumbling a batch of 9mm brass in walnut media. This batch was given to me, so I am not 100% sure of it's origin or reload count but I can see many have non-factory colored primers.

Overall this brass seemed a bit dirtier than average so I wanted to add polish to the media and discovered I didn't have any. Looking around the house, I decided to improvise with some whitening tooth paste! After some hours running, the brass looks pretty good.

The aroma is probably just the media but wouldn't it be fun to have that fresh scent while dispatching unwanted threats. :draw:

IF I was to do it again, I would put the toothpaste in a bowl and add just a small amount of water to make it more soupy so it would mix better with the media. Just adding it into the tumbler, it clumped about 30%. So far I've found a dozen pieces out of ~600 that had clumps attached or inside. I'm putting eyes on every piece as it hits the press to avoid problems.

I was really expecting the reloading police to rain down fire & brimstone on my unconventional and unwise choice for polish. But instead, crickets.
