The Williams covered bridge is now closed :(

I drove across it several times a week, it sort of defined coming home.
At one of the longest covered bridges at 383' long, it is a NEAT bit of wooden engineering. Now that it's closed it won't be long before some idiot burns it down, idiots make an attempt every year or two.

I will miss drivig across it.

Someone set it on fire sometime this summer already didn't they? I was working at Dunn one night and heard it on the scanner.
Do they have another bridge built there?

Yeah, the last attempt to burn it down was a few months ago. They made a better job of it than most people do. Those miscreants got caught just a couple weeks ago as they were responsible for a bunch of vandalism and breakins in the south and southwest portion of the county. They're lucky I wasn't driving along when they were trying to start the fire, they might be on the bottom of the river right now
