Thanks to ObamaCare, my job was cut from full-time to part-time and to put it quite simply, my budgeted income is SIGNIFICANTLY less as of Dec. 1st. I worked overtime quite a bit through the course of the past 1-1/2 years to make a decent income, but that will come to an end. The "people" demanded "affordable care" for everyone, so you're going to get what you pay for. I worked my a$$ off, not taking breaks, shortened lunches, and waiting several hours at a time to even manage to find time to take a leak. Not any more. ObamaCare will ultimately lead to the level of service you'll find at WalMart.

That said, the end result if that my whole family is eligible for FREE medicaid and I won't need the $10k+ annual subsidy from ObamaCare.

    Thanks Obama!

Sorry to hear about your job.
The problem is, quite a few people think you can get something for nothing.
I don't know how many people have asked me, "What do you have against FREE HEALTHCARE?"

THIS IS THE NEW NORMAL . . . bringing EVERYONE DOWN to lower levels of comfort, lower levels of income, lower levels of accomplishment. Welcome to the U.S.S.R. If you are old enough then you know how miserable that was for the people who lived under that communist/socialist utopia. I was lucky enough to be one of the rare Americans to travel behind the Iron Curtain before the fall of communism. When I returned home I very literally got off the plane and kissed the American soil. I now see us following the same policies that failed in so many communist/socialist nations.

Why pay towards the employer plan when my base pay was cut to an income level eligible for Medicaid? I won't pay a dime towards ObamaCare.

the sad fact is that only part time folks are the ones that need thatguycare. shame they can't afford it because their taxes went up and hours were cut because of thatguycare.

yeah pretty much all retailers saw the shape of things to come and set up for it. i had a similar conversation with someone today, those that are in retail are about to start hating life in a whole new way, like they needed another reason.

If your employer pays your premiums he is entitled to a govt subsity that will pay up to 50% of your premiums under the ACA guidlines.

    THIS IS UNTRUE!

Only small employers with less than 25 employees, who have incomes of under $50,000 and who contribute at least 50% of the employees health care premium will qualify for a tax credit, starting in 2014, of up to 50% of the cost. That is a tax credit, not a subsidy, and that means the employer still pays the bill all year and then only gets a partial tax break at the end of the year when he pays his taxes.

    LINK => Health Insurance 101

However, larger employers, those with 26 or more employees, get no special tax credits and certainly no "subsidy" as you assert.

Yes many employers started LAST YEAR so they could hire more part time workers and get their schedules refined so that they could still maintain customer service. This is called advanced planning and smart business.

I am truely sorry for those are caught in this healthcare trap.

According to Obama all will be peachy if only the healthcare act is
allowed to come fully into affect.

He wouldn't lie to us would he?

Hmmmm... Maybe this is a plan by the administration to drop the unemployment numbers. Create more part time jobs. Brilliant!!

What should a guy whose part time do?

For me, I think the answer is work 24 hours/week and nothing more. Use my income to get free Medicaid and then not work a single minute more to cap my income, qualify for the AMT for more tax money, and enroll in a masters program in my field.
