Ok INGO I want to see if there is something out there I have skipped over in the bourbon category that I need to try. What's some of your favorites under $50? My top two in that price range are currently Woodford Reserve and Bulleit Bourbon.

If you like Woodford Reserve and Bulleit, then you probably like the "wheated" bourbons over the rye bourbons. Elijah Craig 12yo, Bernheim wheat whiskey, Eagle Rare might suit you.

Backbone Uncut, Russell's Reserve, Wild Turkey Rare Breed and Evan Williams Single Barrel are all fantastic for the price.

Those ARE fantastic, phylodog. But Jimmy at Austin Nichols like a lot of rye in his mash bill which makes his stuff a little spicier than the whiskey mentioned above. I'm a rye fan, so the Wild Turkey offerings are right in my wheelhouse and Backbone likes to use a good bit of rye in their recipe as well -

    Yum!

Spring Mill Bourbon is relatively inexpensive and pretty good. Supposedly it's distilled in Indiana. I've seen it popping up here and there in local liquor stores. Definitely worth a try.

Eagle Rare - hands down the best "mild" bourbon

More full flavor/strength: Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve and Blanton's the latter is pushing the $50 limit, but I've bought a couple bottles for 49.99

Hmmm I will have to look this one up. Never heard of it but would like to try a local made bourbon!

Four Roses Single Barrel is my favorite mid-range. Jim Beam's Devils Cut is my go to for coke mixing.
