Probably go over as well as when I took my wife elk hunting on our second anniversary and she got accosted daily by some hard core Jehovah's witness women who's husbands were out hunting as well. I was miles from camp before they were out of bed and back after they were gone. Wife said she wanted to go and just hang out in camp. I didn't see the issue.

    I'd have a back-up plan.

    Right here.

Lodge is the best cast iron money can buy and is the only manufacturer of cast iron cooking tools in the USA.

Hey, look at it this way. If you live through this you'll know what to buy her for Christmas!

I would suggest they be accompanied by a weekend stay in a Gatlinburg Tenn. cabin. Tell her she can learn to use them in their native surroundings. (Apply purple as needed)

I think this is fine gift. Either she'll love it, and you'll know she's a keeper because she's a woman who knows the value of good cookware or...

As to the usefulness of this particular item, I've found a slightly smaller skillet does the same thing, plus can be used as... a skillet. Always heed Alton Brown's warning about uni-taskers.

If she doesn't like the cast iron, may I make another suggestion?
