And it starts on the 19th or 20th.

We have two YOUNG children and two cats.

    This will be "interesting"...

Bought the appliances a few months ago; still "holding" on the delivery.

Ordered/paid for two interior and two exterior steel doors yesterday.

    Cabinets are almost done.

    Lighting choices have been made.

    Counter-tops have been picked out.

Need to finalize floor choice and get that ordered/scheduled.

    Leaves me a bit anxious...

    Things are progressing OK...

Got the new faucet. New sink arrived yesterday.

    Cabinets are being stained now.

Got flooring picked out (Durastone vinyl tiles) and estimate is in the works.

New disposal and drinking water tap are en-route.

Started taking the wallpaper border down last night. THAT SUCKS. It's really stuck on there good. A professional painter buddy of mine recommended a stripper goop to me. I will attempt to pick that up this afternoon. Right now, just using hot water / vinegar solution we could only get about 12' of border removed in an hour. That's not good progress.

Not looking forward to cleaning out the cabinets and drawers, but we gotta do it.

I REALLY need to clean off my work bench in the back garage so we can use it as easily get-to-it storage. I think that I may also buy one of those cheap plastic shelving units to use as a "temporary pantry" in the "temporary food prep" area. Then I'll have another shelf for the garage when done! Woo!

    Lots going on!

Cabinets came down easily enough. Saving most of them for the "workshop". A few will be donated to someone else who needs them. Bulk-heads and fluorescent light fixtures removed. Holes in ceiling where bulkheads used to be were patched.

Lots of taping, mudding, and sanding.

Old ceiling texture was scraped off.

    new lighting installed.

Wiring run for under-cabinet lighting. Wiring run for new light in new coat closet.

    Cabinets delivered.

    Appliances delivered.

Flooring finally picked out & contractor secured.

Picked out/reserved the slab/s for our granite counter tops.

There was about an "inch" of flooring down in our kitchen. Top laminate came right up thankfully. It was on top of old sheet linoleum/vinyl. That crap was stapled AND glued down around the perimeter. Staples came out easily enough. And MOST of the glued portions did, too, actually. There was about 1 sq yrd total area that was glued better than most. Or had slightly more porous underlayment. It was stuck fast. Lots of work involving a few hammers, scrapers, a sacrificial screwdriver, some alcohol, and, finally, a chisel. And a slightly thrown out back.

Old cabinet footprint had underlayment scabbed in to match existing.

Cabinets are to me (mostly) installed today.

Counter top measurement to hopefully take place on Friday.

Been an adventure to have the fridge in the back garage and the table/chairs in the living room!
