Well, in my eyes, I judge him a hero.
Loss of engines under 2,800 feet. Options are limited.

I'm excited for it to come out. I bought his book and had him sign it while he was at Purdue doing the interview tour 4ish years ago. Years of training and cool under pressure saved so many lives.

Is Tom Hanks the only actor willing to play a pilot that crashes a commercial airliner?

To be fair, his other role he was in the jump seat.

Cant wait to see that film. As a (former) pilot, I have the utmost respect for that gentleman. In my book, he did the right thing. (any landing you can walk away from is a good one)

Geez, I hate these movies, but want to see them at the same time... but I fly so much, I don't need this stuff in the back of me mind.

    Where's the bacon?
Y'know... if you're gonna be judged forever by 208 seconds of your life, you could do a hell of a lot worse than THOSE 208 seconds.

And not a whole lot better.

    Good job, Sully.

I think I remember reading about how "someone" got together several other long-time airline pilots and put them into the simulators with this exact scenario programmed in.

None of them were able to replicate landing on the river like Cpt. Sullivan did.

He had the skills, the mental makeup, AND a heaping helping of Providence on his side on that day.

If you are referring to the movie where he was stranded on an island with wilson, that is 2.5 hours of my life I will NEVER get back. I hope this one doesn't suck as bad as the former. It deserves more.

"Simulations say you could have made it back to the airport" I was taught, from the beginning, to NEVER try and make it back to the airport after an engine failure during climb out. Hell I can't believe there was ever any question he did the right thing. He not only did the right things, he did them perfectly.

    No conflict, no movie.
