Happily, no fatalities, apparently due to the heroism of the headmaster!

Looks like it is going to be blamed on the guns:

"'It was a crazy act by a youth who is unstable and fascinated by guns,' she said, going on to praise the headmaster's actions during the attack as 'heroic'."

Although, it also appears he was fascinated with grenades:

"The suspect, who was reportedly armed with a rifle, two handguns and two hand grenades, was arrested 'very quickly' after launching the attack."

First things first- glad that no one was killed, hope everyone recovers.

Second, sarcastic remark. I blame Indiana's lax gun laws.

It was reported that the suspect had a pump-action shotgun, a handgun and hand grenades.

    Apparently he was arrested.

Like for real hand grenades or home made devices?

No idea yet. They could have been dummy ones for all we know.No explosion reported besides the shot fired.

Not sure if all the guns were real either. It was reported he had a pistol, a revolver and a shotgun.
And "only" 8 people with non-life threatening wounds.

No shots fired when the police showed up to arrest him.

That is what I was wondering....If real, where in the hell did he get real hand grenades???

Well same thing can be asked for the guns.
At 17 he can't legally buy the shotgun, or the handguns (have to be 21 for handguns).

People who sell illegal handguns also have access to hand grenades, RPGs and various types of explosives.
Not that hard to get.All of those are frequently used by criminals.

Yes.It's pretty common for criminals to use them against armored cars (money transport).

A few years ago a criminal escaped prison after a commando attacked the prison with RPGs, AKs and plastic explosives to blow off the doors.

There was also an attack on a police officer's vehicule parked in front of a police station.
Someone shot it with an RPG apparently as a "warning".

I assume hand grenades are just as easy to get.

Now wait a minute...We are told here (USA) that violence like this doesn't happen in Europe because of the strict gun laws and that's why we need strict gun laws here.

I'm starting to think the anti gun laws won't do anything.

It was reported that the suspect got the shotgun from his father, the handguns belonged to his grandfather.

    No details on the grenades.
