Chicago Art Institute Arms and Armor Collection

I took the train up to Chicago this past weekend to spend sometime with my brother and he took me to the Art Institute of Chicago to show me their smaller but incredible collection of antique arms and armor. They had lots of beautiful wheel locks, match locks, flint locks, shotguns and cannons. They had many unusual firearms as well. The Greek and Renaissance art exhibits were pretty impressive as well. I would post pictures but all the ones I took came out pretty crappy with the lighting and them being behind glass. I strongly recommend if you make it up to the Windy City to check it out!

The shield in the background of the third picture is actually a shield gun. One of 54 produced.

Never been to that museum... But have walked passed the Lions outside! Now I should go.

That I don't know, the collection is actually owned by the Institute and they have several hundred more pieces that aren't on display. I hope it will be a permanent exhibit which they will continue to grow but this is just hopeful thinking.
