Are they worth putting money into them? I can't get my POS to start, and I'm debating on buying a new one. As little as I use it, I'd rather not...

Changed the plug, changed the gas. Other than that, I can't figure out how to take it apart. As annoyed as I am right now, the plasma cutter is tempting.

I'm thinking this is part of the problem. I have no idea where the missing piece is.

I had to put a piston in my 028 wood boss about 17 years ago due to my brother in law putting straight gas in it.

Piston and rings cost more than TRW forged pistons did for my race car.

Thank goodness the jug was good.

Two or three pulls and it will fire right up no matter how long it has been sitting idle.

If you're really giving away the box of parts I will take them! I love the nostalgia of the old saws... I recently inherited my dad's Made in WEST Germany Stihl 034... (my dad didn't pass, he just didn't want "that ole thing" anymore)

I can give you a guys name and number who will buy the saw in parts based on condition. He's in brownsburg.

A running 026 is worth around $250 fwiw.

Pm me if you want to sell it.

After looking up parts, I think I'm going to try to rebuild it. I've never done anything like this before, and I figure that the worst that could happen is it won't run. Since it doesn't run anyway, it would be fun to try.

You won't find that rebuilding is that challenging. They aren't that tight.

If you can get the piston out at ALL, then you can rebuild the thing. But as cheap-ish as parts are, just do ANYthing you see that needs replaced, while you're in there.
