There are several videos online. People were saying they saw somebody parachute from the blimp but one news report states the pilot (only person on board) rode it to the ground and sustained serious burns but is expected to survive.

Glad the pilot survived. Interesting how many folks are totally unaware of their surroundings today. They are shark bait.

    "Only person on board".

    I'll say.

These things are like a power parachute or ultralight with, essentially, a chair and engine hung under a "blimp" rather than a chute. There's only room for 1.

Interesting. Basically a hot air ballon, but in a different shape. I didnt even know these existed.

The fire angle makes sense now. I was wondering how a helium ballon could catch fire. Other than an engine fire, but those are in nacelles outside the cockpit so it would take a bit for the pilot to get burned. (except maybe while he was exiting since the doors are usually just forward of the engines)
