Today I had the honor of meeting a group of WW2 veterans from Canada.
They landed on the beaches of Normandy 75 years ago and today they were back in town to take part in different ceremonies in their honor.

Most of them were only teenagers in 1942.

It was a joy to approach them and see all the people wanting to take pictures with them.

Everybody wanted their picture taken with them or shake their hands.
I went with the bear hug approach instead.

Did you bear hug the wwii vets or their female escort? :):

    Awesome pics brother

I plead the fifth on that one!

Those female soldiers were very friendly and offered to take my picture with the veterans.
I politely declined and told them the pictures were not about me.

I've had the high honor of meeting with many wwii vets and made sure I got my picture with many of them. Including one last year at the Indy motor speedway. They saved the world and are treasures that are disappearing fast

Humvee "truck utility" from the 1980's.
The owner bought it used from the Luxembourg Army.
They are quite rare around here especially in the civilian market.

It's interesting to compare it in size to a Jeep from the 1940's.

I just rather stay on one side of the camera. :)

I met one in Indy on time.
I asked him if he was a vet and in return he asked me where I was from when he noticed my outrageous French accent.
He then told me that he was deployed in France soon after the war and was glad to talk to someone who knew the different places he's been to.

I have been to many war cemeteries.I'm always glad to meet one of those hereos that is still above ground. :patriot:

Those Canadian soldiers landed on the beach with 50 US Rangers btw.
Not sure if any survived the raid.

Jeep Willys with towing bar.The towing bar let you connect 2 or 3 jeeps together to tow a heavy piece of artilery.
