They purchased 10 acres of land initially in Westfield to build a Islamic Life Center but was later denied in April 2017 due to zoning issues.

Looks like they got anther piece of land in Carmel, and requesting to be re-zoned to Commercial.

They are trolling hard on the Nextdoor app looking for support.

Friend of mine got a message saying:

"Al Salam Foundation os inviting the neighbors to attend the "neighbors Meeting" on Sun. Jan 14 at Carmel Christian Church, to provide more details on ILC(Islamic Life Center), answer any questions and concerns."

Why would a Christian church want to get involved in this kinda stuff?

Maybe they've rented the church's facilities to do this meet and greet. Our church has a facility that they rent out for various groups...some large and some small.

What's the problem? Let them build

The problem (I would call it more of a concern) is that when a Catholic or Protestant group build something we don't concern ourselves that angry Methodist extremists will infiltrate it and start planning how to shoot up Circle Center Mall.

I kinda figured this was where we were headed from the outset.

This is a well founded fear at least if you are a news media junky.
Let them build it. Let them attend.
Let them pay homage to their particular deity's.

    But watch them.....:):

I live about 5 minutes from the Islamic Society Mosque in Plainfield. I've had nothing but peaceful interactions with Middle Eastern people from the area and as far as I know, the Plainfield mall has never had a terrorist attack. You're about as likely to end up in a terrorist attack as you are in a workplace shooting from some deranged white dude or gang crime in Indy.

Carmel has more churches per capita than any municipality in the state, I think. I have no problem with a mosque/ILC going in. In fact, there's already a significant Islamic population in Carmel from the ME and Pakistan/India.

Most of them live in my neighborhood, I think.

(I live in Carmel and am not Islamic. Although some on INGO might dispute that latter point.) ;)

Gotta watch them Baptists they can get preachy. Knocking on your door every Thursday night week after week, running buses and indoctrinating little kids and inviting you to their Christmas concert EVERY year.

I read an article a few days back that stated that the muslim population is set to surpass the Jewish population by 2040 (or something like that--could be off somewhat). It only makes sense that as immigration continues and muslim families reproduce, there's going to be more and more of such buildings being built.

Better watch out for those gun nuts and their crazy gun shows too.

In 1993, he (Timothy McVeigh) drove to Waco, Texas during the Waco siege to show his support. At the scene, he distributed pro-gun rights literature and bumper stickers, such as "When guns are outlawed, I will become an outlaw." He told a student reporter:
