In 2018, Army could return to its iconic WWII-era uniform which could become the everyday business-wear uniform for all Soldiers. This would replace the current Army Service Uniform, which would be used as a more formal dress uniform.

Based on Sergeant Major of the Army's interest and his belief that the uniform would reconnect today's Soldier with the history of the Army, an exclusive Army Times survey was sent out to its readers. The survey received a favorable response from more than 70 percent of the Soldiers supporting the return of the historic World War II uniform.

Taking advantage of upgrades in fabric technology, the Army has developed design options, sketches and prototype uniforms to support the Army's decision-making process. This was done in collaboration with the Center for Military History, the Army's industry partners and the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Texas A&M University, whose cadets have historically worn a pinks and greens-type of uniform.

    Is it the proposed uniform?

I'm not sure which part is pink. The pants?

What is "everyday business wear" in the military? I thought the BDU (or ACU?) was the everyday uniform and the Army Service uniform was for ceremonies.

Yes, the pants were the pink in the "pinks and greens". They weren't really pink, the hue was just close enough to earn a nickname that was probably meant to be derisive at the time. Like so many things in life, they became more beloved after they were replaced.

Because the branches switch uniforms ALL THE TIME.
    It sucks.
When I was in, navy dress uniform top was $60.
And when you have to buy a new "seabag", your talking
    2 dress blues
    2 dress whites
    2 work whites
    5 dungarees

I'm sure there's more, that's off my head, and it's been a few years.

    Also, that's the minimum.
Since nuke school required work whites, I didn't think 2 would be enough, so I bought 5 more.
And dungarees are CONSTANTLY needing to be replaced.

Since it looks like Avengers 4 will involve Captain America's returning to his WWII outfit, I suspect Marvel (probably with Disney) is sponsoring the change.

Holy cow! Changing it AGAIN!?!? These things are expensive.

I guess I expected these things to be provided, didn't know people had to pay for their own.

I think it depends on the branch.
    Navy, you buy your own.
In boot camp, they deducted half of my first 2 paychecks to cover my seabag.
Then, I was responsible for upkeep.
In 6 years I probably went through 20-30 dungarees. :dunno:
Once I got to a seagoing command, I didn't have to worry about losing or wearing out the "Dixie cups" (white hat). Instead I had to invest in ship's ball caps.
underway, we wore sneakers. The chemicals in the air are rough on glues used in the sneakers. So they only lasted on average about 6 months. One pair only lasted me 5 days.

If I may presume to speak for Leadeye, somebody's crony will make buck providing the new uniforms. "Follow the money™"
