Trying to help out a kid enlist, but recruiter wants to see all his arrests/convictions (If any), isn't there a free website to get this information? I haven't said this to the kid, but if he has a record it maybe a non-starter.

If the recruiter wants to see that, then it's his job to find out.

Recruiters see what they want. Mine told me that when I split my femur at the knee joint in HS 2 years prior to enlisting, that it was not a disqualifying knee injury, but was an upper leg injury. Nothing to worry about. Doctors at Ft Lost in the Woods had other ideas when they found out after I twisted my knee and needed ibuprofen. I think the stamp on my papers said something like "Bye Felicia". :):

They will soon be wanting to increase the amount of foot soldiers.
stuff might ease a bit in the near future.

The days are over over when they took just about everyone. Back then if you had been in trouble the judge often gave a lighter sentance or slapped a wrist if one had joined the forces.

Late 60's, early 70's the Judges had a favorite saying, " Jail or Service". A good friend of mine had the choice, enlisted, Basic, off to Nam. 14 Days in Country he stepped on a Mine. Panel 22E Line 38 on The wall. Never Forgotten!

Recruiter: Have you ever been convicted of a felony?
    Recruit: No
Recruiter: Have you ever been arrested?
    Recruit: No (a lie)

Recruiter pulls criminal history...sees recruit has been arrested, but now knows he's a liar.

Advice (FREE): cop to everything and let the recruiter figure out how to get you in.

If you lie and you get in and 5 years from now they find out you lied...end of career....unless you are a congressman.
