Will it let the boys who work in the basement of the museum sneak up to the roof and watch the first 10 laps of the race and sneak apple schnapps (*shudder* gaw, that crap was nasty)?

The name is A-UGV, that spells nothing. I predict dismal failure, especially after someone throws up on it.

Will I still have to have my cooler checked for contraband while Suburbans loaded down to their axles with who knows what drive right in?

    Yeah its funny.
Just a matter of time honestly. Which is sad because the access of the event is what helps make it so great. Most of the leo presence is just crowd control. I'm sure they have soecialized units inspecting key structural or access points but of something ever happens the masses are ****ed. Nothing anyone can do to prevent a nut job or nut jobS, with bad intent. If it ever happens I hope I die quick or I die taking out a bad guy or two.
They don't even have to get inside to cause a mass event. Targeting the huge camping lots or streets filled with people on race day would make it a bigger tragedy than Las Vegas by far.

The President has a phrase to describe places like that.

I'm all for technology, especially good CCTV and electronic countermeasures on physical property. But when it comes to a venue such as this and the types of events it holds, there's no substitute for GOOD human security operatives.

This thing is going to be peed/pooped on, mud-slinged and who knows what else. It's going to be used so sparingly due to operational costs and it's value that they may as well have just not bought it at all. The money spent on it could have hired (most likely) two or more seasoned security officers to act as night watchmen or what-have-you, and paid for their salaries for a year or two. Not to mention the security person on the other end monitoring the cameras and driving the thing. What they paid for this thing could have put people to work.
