Noobs tend to think that INGO is too harsh. When in reality a very large percentage here are genuinely trying to be kind to new members.

This is a kinder gentler INGO. Gone are the clicks that would hound a noob for using the term Concealed Carry Permit. Dog piles used to be common and popular here, and in defense. Who doesn't like a good train wreck? Once upon a time these clicks would use the neg rep button as a weapon, to beat a noob into submission. Once Scutter01 had to dig me out of a hole.

I was just reading all of my subscribed threads and noticed a commercial for concealed over open carry in a thread about rights.

Once I would have posted, Wrong thread and given the link to The Open Carry Argument (and I have many many times). I was actually about to do just that when I stopped and looked at his info. He had under 30 posts. He may be the guy that knows more about something than anyone else, and will be a respected member one day. Right now he doesn't understand the nuances of INGO, but he needs a chance to learn.

I just wanted to pat myself on the back, toot my own horn and generally let everyone know what a wonderful guy I really am.

Am I giving in to the snowflakes? Just joking, sheesh I even used Grape ink.

INGO is downright soft compared to some forums. If you are into the 4x4 scene, try Pirate4x4 on for size.

I also stopped myself from linking to the OC thread. ;)

Well, I just know that I was welcomed here with arms full of hugs, the soft glow of firelight, and champagne toasts to my health.

    Wait.

    No.

I'm getting INGO confused with newsgroups.

I think it's due to people like you, to be honest. You reached right out to me, took me to the range, and made me feel welcome. Everyone has been really respectful and tolerate of questions that are pretty obvious to someone who isn't new like me. This is seriously one of the best and most informative Forums I've found on any subject... It's the members who set the tone and pace and you've done a great job. So, thank you!

It was tough when the second Never OC post in that thread was a plinker too.

I tend to avoid internet forums unless they have something I'm specifically interested in then I might visit. INGO is my only social media, all of my other media is antisocial.

The retarded thing is that it all comes down to personal preference anyway. Some like to open carry and some don't.

My opinion isn't going to change yours any more than yours is going to change mine.

I remember the talk all the time about the "in crowd" dogpiling, but I always wondered who "they" were....

I was part of a Colts forum that had a mix of locals that saw each other every home game, and people that were remote who would never have a face associated with a forum handle. Everyone was free to disagree, but those that had a face associated with a name had the tendency to be decent to others. Much like the other forums mentioned, those that remained a person behind a keyboard were jerks most of the time.

There are three options to deal with a person posting a question (1) Ignore the post (2) Be a Jerk (3) Try to be helpful. I just can't understand why option 2 is the preferred path on a lot of the forums. I think INGO is really good compared to most.

There was one that seemed to enjoy giving me the business. He has been perma-banned. I won't mention his "former" username because the last time I did, I was told he is here under another name.

I don't recall if this is correct, but I think my Neg rep into oblivion was caused by my mentioning that CC was better than OC.
