Suday sales clarification

I recall when they passed the sunday sales law they said that retailers can now sell from 12-8 on Sundays. Or something like that. I recall it was a big deal because it supposedly was a concession to allow the mom and pop stores to only have to have one shift of workers to limit their costs.

Driving by a liquor store today at 6:45 I saw their open sign was lit, and their message board said they are now open 11-midnight Sundays. Are liquor stores able to sell alcohol on sundays longer than regular retailers? Or did I read that message wrong?

I think that has to do with "serving drinks".

I know I get calls every Sunday asking what time do we start selling alcohol. The earliest call I received was a little after 6am. Our systems have been set up to not allow the sale of alcoholic beverages until 12p.

With sales the remainder of the week not starting until 7:00 am on any given day, how does it allow sale after midnight of the previous day given that logic?

Now I cannot buy sixpacks to go from local breweries after 8pm on Sundays.

They should have just gotten rid of all time restrictions on alcohol sales.

I hate nanny-state jerkweed politicians. Nooses are too good for them.
