He was a ham radio operator. I have talked to him several times. Nice to talk to. He lost his wife several years ago. So he is now with her. RIP Art

Late night radio. Ghosts, ancient aliens, bigfoot visits, that sort of thing.

I worked early mornings at WIBC and Coast-to-Coast was the lead in to Indy's Morning News beginning at 5:00 a.m. That meant I would hear at least the last hour of it while prepping the news of the day.

It was really interesting when technical difficulties cut into the simulcast. A guy actually called into the newsroom to ask if somebody from the government had come to the station and unplugged his microphone for "telling the truth."

I said, "I can't think of any other conceivable scenario," and hung up.

If I closed my eyes while listening I could imagine I was in the trailer park waiting for the aliens to finish their probes.

He was an entertainer and will be missed. I'll also miss his entertaining callers.

$20 says somebody else will take the gig and the callers will still call. 
But Art was able to take a call from someone who had their tinfoil hat too tightly wrap, engage them in conversation with a degree of respect, and not laugh or belittle them. Although the fact that Art probably had a tinfoil hat too helped.
