Do you know what that thing is? :dunno:

They can be found on the side of the road (over 1,000 of them), and in some towns and villages, in Normandy.

Hint: There are 48 stars on it.

    Liberty Road route markers.

    Chez nailed it. :yesway:

It marks the road taken by Patton's third army. From Utah beach all the way to Belgium.

They were made in 1947, originally made of concrete.
The ones next to roads have been replaced with plastic replicas for safety reasons.

Back when the French could remember why they owe us a debt of gratitude (times 2).

If you visited the different museums, cemeteries and memorials in the region (and all around the country) you would see that the French have not forgotten the sacrifice of US soldiers during both world wars.

I have thanked WW2 vets in person and visited countless of soldier's graves, been to services and ceremonies honoring WW2 veterans.

The French still remember very well what those brave American soldiers did in 1914 and 1944.

New plaques and monuments are added all the time ...

The American flag is still proudly flying on our beaches ...

    Present company excluded, sir.

Speaking of, (not really) How's the immigration progress? You any closer to hopping the pond and gaining REAL freedom?

I have never visited the country and I'm afraid I will never have the opportunity. I have in the past been given the impression that the French do not care for Americans; it would seem they suffer the same malady that the U.S. suffers in that there is a small but loud group of people that are anti- whatever stands for good. These images prove that we are not hated by the rest of the world.
