My father served in the Army/Vietnam from 69-71. He kept his issued blanket after coming home. We recently lost him in November. Mom asked me if I wanted the blanket and I said yes. What’s the best thing I can do to keep it in good shape? Best way to wash/dry it as I plan on using it.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

    Washing Wool Blankets
    by OregonWool
Washing wool blankets is not nearly so difficult as many people believe.
Some front loading washing machines have a wool setting and wool blankets may be washed in them.
Otherwise, fill a utility sink with warm water if the blanket is small, or the bathtub if it is large.
Add a couple of ounces of Kookaburra Woolwash, and let the blanket soak for an hour.

Drain, and rinse in the same temperature water. Kookaburra Woolwash cleans, kills mites, smells great, and is made by an Oregon company.
Spin out excess water in your washing machine on a SPIN ONLY setting (no agitation or water). Hang to dry.
