Dang... I'd say the adult showed remarkable restraint given the situation. The kid was clearly the aggressor, and my first thought was that he'd have a hard time yelling "**** you" to adults with his jaw wired shut.

If they are not taught early on to respect it will be very hard to do at this kids age.

The mom/dad should end up in a cell next too him.

The kid's only saving grace would be if he had some developmental issue and truly did not understand what he was doing (not a lack of pine time, but a legitimate disability). Barring that, good grief--it was almost as if he wanted the man to react.

Unfortunately not a lot you can do with kids like that. I live in Westfield and part of my apartment complex is section 8. I caught a kid walking down the street in the middle of the day launching rocks at cars. Cracked my windshield on my truck. Westfield PD only talked to him and did nothing else. Since then we have had non-stop harassment and kids messing with our cars. They play basketball and bounce it off our cars almost daily.
A few months ago they were having a "rock fight" and my wife went out to tell them to knock it off and they surrounded her and one of the kids told her he was 18 and would stomp her face into the curb. Police were called and found out the kid was only 14. Again nothing was done. Parents don't care so neither do they.

What is really sad is having to change the age where a child is held fully responsible, but as a "humane" society 18 will be forever the magic age and 13 can get away with murder.

Yeah, tbe kid got lucky he didn't try anything. The wife was ready to defend herself if the need presented itself, but luckily it didn't come to that. Would have been a life lesson for him. I put tbe wrong age. I meant to put that he claimed he was 18, but was 14. In a situation like that, I assume self defense would be self defense regardless of age? Although I'm sure tbe numerous kids circled around her egging the little punk on would have lied then it's her word against theirs.

I think the kid was fishing for a reaction, and then wanted to play the crying kid card. This wasn't his first rodeo of pulling that garbage.
