By 8:15 it had been spotted, tranquilized and returned to its enclosure by veterinarians.[/FONT]

I always thought it was ironic that the name of John James Audubon is associated with gentle treatment and conservation, and yet his most trusty tool for studying birds was his shotgun. Almost all of the models for his portraits were birds that he himself shot. He shot hundreds of them. In several instances, he wrote of his good fortune to be able to kill a particularly rare species of bird so that he could paint it's portrait. You probably don't read that on the Audubon Society's web page.

Predators get out of cages then they do predator stuff, life lesson in many ways.

Modern imagery of icons from the past often don't mix. I heard the term, "he was a man of his time" used in the context before, it's why it's difficult to pull historical figures into modern expectations.

Is it bad that before reading the story assumed this was about wildlife in need which I live right down the road from.
