    I need INGO input onthis:

My wife turns 50 in 2 weeks. We are basically the same age (I am a few days younger) and she doesn't want anything and she hasn't mentioned anything she would like in weeks.

    Conditions and history:
She doesn't/won't carry. She was raised around guns and is okay with them
One kid in college, one kid in HS
We are going to the horse track/casino for dinner and degenerate gambling.
She has jewlery but I guess more is better.

    Budget: $500 or less.

    Hit me.

When I turned 50, the only thing I wanted was a nice watch. I had been wearing cheap costume watches all my life. I did ask to pick it out, though, because I had a good idea what I wanted. I found a $2499 Raymond Weil watch on sale for $599 and have worn it every day for the past six years.

I happened to be in Vegas for my 50th birthday and treated myself to renting a Thompson SMG and blasting away.

Perhaps, if she isn't asking for anything, then maybe there is something she has always wanted to do that would be fun?

The very small, local, high end jewelry store is my safe bet. She usually just looks and is quite happy. Sometimes she buys, which is fine too, it has always been our money, not his and hers. I always complement her on her choice.

Try to find out if she had a favorite doll or toy as a child and find it in like new condition.

My wife cherished Mrs. Beasely (Buffy's doll) from the TV show Family Affair.

Nothing wrong with a nice time out. Often memories are the best gift...of course some trinket often helps cement the memory.

My wife is a purse-o-holic. A nice Burberry, Coach or Kate Spade might be nice.

The watch idea up top is also a great idea.

My wife and I agreed a decade or two ago to not buy each other gifts for birthdays or Christmas. That's best proposed as your birthday approaches, however. :):
