So, something my parents realized as the nest emptied:
Getting a new pet does come with the comfort of re-populating the nest. But it also comes with 10-15 more years of nurturing/tending to another life.
Just something to consider if you still want to be getting up @ 6AM when you're retired.
Dog requirements here are big, soft and furry. No short hairs. lol. Seriously though, I really don't want anything other than a Belgian. They are my thing.
Get a puppy! I think it's a bad idea for inexperienced dog owners to get a pup for Christmas. Sounds like you'd be just fine.
